We aim to increase the health and wellbeing of the participant and his or her family. By way of participating in activities with the land and undertaking projects to aid and help others. These can be on various farms and smallholdings throughout the Southwest.
These can comprise of anything from dry stone walling, tree planting, animal husbandry, horticulture and much more. The project will deliver from an Occupational Therapy perspective with meaningful and purposeful activities.
The Experience Days can be taken individually, or can be a route through to the full residential programme.
We are providing Experience Days for Rural Skills. Participants can undertake many aspects of Rural Skills, some which will be certificated.
We aim to provide a 6 to 12 week programme at several beautiful venues throughout the South West. A mentor will be supporting each small group, and access to a support worker/counsellor will be available.
A Typical Day
After breakfast, discussions will take place as to the schedule for the day, in conjunction with our mentors or from the various organisations we are working with.
Tasks will be allocated to small groups of which will include a mentor. Lunch will provided on site and further tasks where necessary. Evening meal will also be provided. Chill out time or social activities in the evening.
We will be working with many organisations and colleges such as Duchy and Bicton Colleges, various country estates and farms and equine enterprises.
Where possible we will do our utmost to provide accessible facilities.
We have links with local colleges (both mainstream and agricultural) to provide training leading to qualifications in many aspects, both vocationally and professionally. We aim to help our participants to work towards training and employment and further their prospects both workwise and life wise for a stable future.
We will run a programme of Military Mental Health Awareness courses attached to the project for anyone wishing to get involved in working with our participants, this can be either a one day course for continuing professional development or this can be further enhanced to a full accredited course, please ask us for details.
